Sometimes we get so busy we have a hard time seeing God in the every day moments. We rush from here to there, wrangling the kids, moving too fast, working so hard to “keep it all together.” In these times, we fail to listen to those who need our attention, we look past the miracles of nature surrounding us, and we forget to pause in thanks to Him or to pray for His wisdom as our burden gets heavy. Jesus calls those who are laboring with wearisome effort and carrying heavy burdens to come to him (Matthew 11:28.) He isn’t saying to come eventually, he is calling for us to come now, to be face to face with Him. Can you picture that? He wants all of your attention. If you are face to face with someone, that person is all you see, and you are nose to nose, eye to eye. He calls us to come in that close, so that we can make an exchange. Here, we get out from under the yoke that we are shouldering all by ourselves, slipping under His. There, He says, the burden is so light. It’s light because when we allow Him to lead, it feels as if He’s bearing the whole load.
